About
About OhmPrep
OhmPrep is an independent study resource for the calculation questions on the journeyman electrician exam in the United States: voltage drop, conduit fill, box fill, load calculations, Ohm's law and power, ampacity and derating, motors and transformers.
How we write
- Every worked example shows each step, not only the answer.
- We point to the NEC article, section or table where each value comes from, by name and number. We do not reproduce the text of the code, so keep your own copy of the edition your state uses.
- When a section number or value changed between NEC editions and we know it for certain, we say so. When we are not certain, we tell you to check your state's adopted edition.
- We do not publish pass rates, testimonials or promises about exam results.
What OhmPrep is not
OhmPrep is not a licensing authority, a school, or a substitute for the code book, your training program, or the official candidate bulletin for your exam. Exam formats and adopted code editions change. Always confirm the current rules with your state licensing board.
What is coming
The OhmPrep Calculations Course, with animated worked problems and a practice app that scores each step, is in development. It is not on sale yet. Join the email list to hear when it opens.
Meanwhile, the voltage drop calculator and the articles are free.
